About our church

What we believe

We are a Reformed evangelical Anglican church. The Bible is our supreme authority for faith and life. We uphold the biblical teaching expressed in the Thirty-nine Articles of Religion and our services are based on the Book of Common Prayer.

Our central Christian beliefs are summarised below.

  1. Scripture. God inspired the Bible, which is infallible as originally written and governs Christian belief and conduct.
  2. God. There are three persons in the one true and living God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are the same in substance, equal in power and glory
  3. Sin. Since the fall, every person is sinful and guilty, deserving God’s wrath and judgement.
  4. Jesus Christ. The eternal Son became human, conceived by the Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
  5. Redemption. Christ’s sacrifice alone saves us from sin’s guilt, punishment and power. He died as our representative and substitute, bearing our judgement.
  6. Resurrection. Jesus rose bodily from death and is ascended to heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father.
  7. New life. God’s Spirit applies Christ’s saving work to us, bringing us to turn from sin and trust in Jesus.
  8. Christian living. God’s Spirit dwells within believers and works in their lives.
  9. Our hope. We await Jesus’ personal return to judge the living and the dead.
